Principal’s Message IHS, GMT

An adage says, “Education’s purpose is to replace an empty mind with an open one.” and that is one notion very close to my heart as well. In my view, the design of education is to adopt prowess and knowledge essential in the 21st century that would devise one to fight the challenges of the modern contemporary world and to actuate one to pursue learning that will continue for the rest of one’s life.

I believe that each and every learner at Innocent Hearts School is conferred with a gift to share with the world, and we work hard to unlock their highest potential. We have high expectations of our students, and we have high expectations of ourselves to help all our students learn and evolve into well-rounded citizens. Our approach to education is to equip our pupils with the skills and outlook that are necessary for taking on the hardships and possibilities of life and thereby for building a better world.

The school has also embarked on a mission to give DISHA to encourage the masses to put a stop on the bane of Female Foeticide. The message stresses upon making the girl child literate which is imperative for our nation’s growth. The venture also includes the subject of alcohol and drug abuse. Youngsters are being shown the light in the right direction which shall help them to stay away from these inebriants. REDUCE, REUSE and RECYCLE is another motto that we are encouraging everyone to live by in order to alleviate the catastrophic effects of our lifestyle on the environment. Last but not least is promoting the consumption of digital payment methods so that our carbon footprint is also reduced by bringing down the use of paper.

Furthermore, students at IHS are taught to view themselves as learners and attempt at becoming out-of-the-box thinkers. I believe in earnest that critical thinking and problem-solving skills are as preponderant as content knowledge. A recent survey even suggests that in the coming years 65% of students will be employed in jobs that do not yet exist, so it will be imperative for all students to acquire the analytical, evaluative, and creative skills to apply such thinking toward making a niche in their chosen career tracks.

We should also understand that education should embody remodeling of a learner’s anterior understanding as they call for fresh questions and research other perceptions of  life. This makes education a metamorphosing process where one does not acquire novel knowledge but rather thrives on his existing one. This transmuting would continue so long as new knowledge and information are discovered and learnt, which exactly what we strive to accomplish at IHS by means of a multitude of athletic, artistic and scientific activities interspersed with prescribed academic curriculum.
